User Management

Only authenticated users can access JiveX. The JiveX user management can be used to add, modify and delete user accounts.

JiveX supports two configuration levels:

Users

A user account can be used to manage what and how a single user can interact with JiveX. Every user is always member of a single group.

Groups

A group can be used to manage what a certain set of users can do.

Roles

Categories and category values can be used to manage access rights to patient data per user group.

User Administration

Users and groups can be managed using the User Manager. The User Manager can be accessed using the following steps:

  • Open the JiveX Administration Console.
  • On the Administration menu, click User Manager.
  • The User Manager window will open.
Add a User Account

To add a new user account, that can be used for accessing the JiveX applications, use the following steps:

  • Open the User Management window.
  • Click the New User button to create a new empty user account. Alternatively, perform a right-click on an existing user and select the option New User from the context menu.
  • Existing users can be copied. For this, right-click on an existing user and select the option Copy. Enter the number of copies for new users.
  • Configure the following required parameters:

Name Description

Login The unique login name the user will use to access the system.(Please note that within ServerSync login names with special characters like umlauts will only be supported by version 5.3.2 and higher.)

Name The last name of the user.

First The first name of the user. name

Pass­ The password of the account. word

Confirm The identical password of the “Password” parameter. password

Group The group of which this user is a member.

  • Optionally, configure the following parameters:

Name Description

Expired on If configured, configures the date when the account gets locked.

Locked until If configured, configures a time until the account is locked.

Account disabled If set, the account still exists, but cannot be used to access the JiveX system.

External account If set, the account is authenticated using an external LDAP system.

Update password If set, will require the user to update his password the next he logs in.

  • Click the Save button to save the new configuration.

Change a User Account

To update the configuration of an existing user account use the following steps:

  • Open the User Management window.
  • Select in the Users list the user account that needs to be changed.
  • Change the parameters of the selected user. For a description of the parameters see the subsection “Add a User Account” .
  • Click the Save button to save the changed configuration.
Delete a User Account

To delete an existing user account, follow the steps below:

  • Open the User Management window.
  • In the Users list select the user account that needs to be deleted.
  • Click the Delete User button , and answer the confirmation dialog. Alternatively, perform a right-click on an existing user and select the option Delete User from the context menu.
